Temperature is an important parameter for aquatic life, the temperature regulates the growth of
aquatic plant and animal life and oxygen levels are influenced by temperature as well. The hotter water
gets, the more the oxygen level drops.
Mammals can self-regulate internal temperature. But fish and other
aquarium life can't do this, Their internal temperature changes with external temperature of the water around them.
They can only survive in between certain temperature ranges.
The average tropical water temperatures, range from 20°C to 30°C, Sudden large changes in temperature
can stress fish and cause health problems or even death. But there are some species of fish that can withstand
large variations in temperature such as Corydoras. It should be noted that very low temperatures in a tropical aquarium can help the
development of some fish diseases.
