Dry Foods

Dried food can be purchased as Flake, Pellets and Wafers. Which can be made from many different ingredients. Dry food is clean and easy to handle, disease free and removes the worry of feeding a balance diet for your fish. Dry food lasts a long time. But over time dry food's vitamin content will deteriorate. So watch the sell by date. So most aquarist's feed dry food exclusively to their fish because of these advantages. Some of the drawbacks of feeding dry foods are that it soaks up a lot of water and can swell to several times its original size. If a fish eats the flake before it has had a chance to soak up some water, it may expand inside the fish and cause digestive problems. Dried foods also have a tendency to float for a time, greedy fish may monoplize the food preventing other fish particularly bottom dwellers from feeding. Although pre-soaking the dried foods may solve these two problems.
