| BREEDING | |
| Black Convict Cichlids will form strong bonding pairs, They will remain faithful to their mate through out their lives. The female will dig out a cave or pit in the gravel and lay her eggs. The male will then fertilize the eggs. The female will guard the eggs and the male will patrol outside the cave. The eggs should hatch after 2-5 days. Then the male and female become extremely agressive towards other fish to protect their young. They will attack and chase away any fish that comes near the fry. Black Convict Cichlids are mouth brooders. They will take their young into their mouths to protect them. | |
