COMMENTS
These fish are fairly hardy, as with most other Corydoras. Though they can tolerate poor water conditions, they appreciate clean water with some amount of current. High nitrates and sharp gravel have been accused of causing barbel erosion, so both should be avoided. This species tends to be shy, and benefits from cover in the form of plants, driftwood, and other decorations. As these fish are reclusive but social within the species, a minimum of six per tank is recommended.
BREEDING
Gender Cannot be determined from external features. The sex of the cory can be distinguished in adults as the female is noticably wider when looked upon from above. Females are slightly larger than the males, Nitrates must be kept as low as possible. Small frequent water changes with slightly cooler water with a pH of 6.5 in a wide, shallow tank often instigates breeding activity. Not as easy to breed as other Corydoras.
