COMMENTS
Guppys are a popular, easy to keep tropical aquarium fish because of the very colourful tails on the male guppys and that they are very easy to breed. The females are larger but have smaller, less colourful tails than the males. Guppys should not be housed in an aquarium with fin nippers. They come in many different colour versions because of many years of selective breeding.
BREEDING
Guppys are easy to breed because they are live bearers. Females give birth to 20 - 60 live young at one time. Aquarists that breed guppys, usually put females due to give birth into breeding nets to protect the fry from other fish in the aquarium.
