COMMENTS
Sterbai's are one of the hardiest corys to keep, tank bred specimens are tolerant of a range of water conditions, wild caught specimens may be a bit more delicate. A very attractive cory, with bright orange pectoral fins. Like all corys a sand or fine rounded gravel substrate is pefereable, make sure substrate doesn't have sharp edges. Best kept in shoals of at least six. A very peaceful fish, compatible with most species. They will happily accept most flake, frozen and live foods. Bloodworms are greedily accepted. Catfish pellets should also be given.
BREEDING
Not too hard, typical cory methods are used. Condition with good foods, good water quality and do a large water change with water of a lower temperature. Tank should be bare bottomed or fine sand, with a few plants, java moss being ideal. Generally lay about 70 1.3mm eggs in clumps of 3-6,hatching time is about 4 days and the fry will be free swimming after about 2 days. They will live off their yolk sacs for a couple of days, then fed newly hatched brine shrimp, then pre-soaked flake or crushed tablet food. After 1 week, they will be about 6.5mm,growing to about 15mm in a month.
