COMMENTS
Platies are a popular, easy to keep tropical aquarium fish because they are very colourful and that they are very easy to breed. Platies have a habit of eating fine leaved plants, but larger leaved plants are quite safe from Platies. Platies should not be housed in an aquarium with fin nippers. They come in many different colour versions because of many years of selective breeding.
BREEDING
Platies are easy to breed because they are live bearers. Females give birth to many live young at one time. Aquarists that breed Platies, usually put females due to give birth into breeding nets to protect the fry from other fish in the aquarium.
